PLANO BOYS
Kevin: Plano Boys
Did you see Plano Senior John Roberson at the end of the third quarter in Wednesday night’s opening round playoff victory over South Garland?
He ran the court and banked in a shot at the buzzer. And his response was to walk off the court and head back to the huddle. While everyone else was screaming, he remained calm. And do you know why? Because he knew the ball was going in before he even shot it. He always does that, and it’s that kind of swagger that will carry the Wildcats to a victory over the Cowboys.
Although, I suppose that says nothing about Carter, so here goes. Don’t look at the overall record, the Cowboys have won nine of their last 10 games and have a scorer almost on par with Roberson in Brockeith Pane, who is averaging 24.6 points per game. That notwithstanding, Plano will win this one.
Cory: Plano Boys
I don’t know if you’ve heard of him or not, but I think this John Roberson kid is pretty talented.
It’s like when my dad said, “This Emmitt Smith kid has potential,” after he broke Walter Peyton’s record.
With the experience of a state championship on their side, I don’t think the Wildcats are going out very early. Senior Greg Harrell still has some work to do at Plano before he leaves a pretty decent athletic legacy behind him. And senior Landon Skinner, second on the team in scoring, is no slouch either. If you were to make a comparison of Roberson to Jordan, then Skinner is Roberson’s Pippen.
This is a hard working team, which loves the underdog role. Though people still have them at the top, you know head coach Tom Inman is telling them they still have to earn respect.
I say, stay tuned for a long Wildcats run.
