Plano's John Roberson and Woodrow Wilson's Anthony Randolph were like two heavyweight fighters in their matchup Friday night in the Chris Bosh South Dallas Hoopfest.
In the end, Roberson got the upper hand. So did teammate Landon Skinner.
The seniors combined for 66 points as Plano walked away from Ellis Davis Fieldhouse with a 87-70 victory over Woodrow. Plano has won seven consecutive games.
Fans anticipated watching two of the area's best players in Roberson, a Texas Tech signee, and Randolph, an LSU signee. Roberson dazzled the crowd with long-range shooting and ankle-breaking dribbles and finished with 38 points, three shy of the school record.
Woodrow's Randolph, ranked as high as 10th nationally, got the crowd fired up with monster dunks and big blocks. He finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds.
As good as Roberson's game was, Skinner's performance went under the radar. Skinner scored 16 points in the first half and finished with 28.
Plano led by nine in the second quarter before Woodrow rallied to take a 40-37 halftime lead. But Plano outscored Woodrow 50-30 in the second half to pull away.
