PLANO - John Roberson is ranked as the state's No. 1 junior guard. He earns it by accomplishing the unprecedented at Plano.
Take Friday for instance. The Wildcats' guard compiled a triple-double to follow a double-double Tuesday. The performances earned Roberson the Male Athlete of the Week selection by the Plano Star Courier for Jan. 30-Feb. 5.
Roberson compiled 12 points and 11 assists in a win over Allen. It was an unfairly average night for Roberson. Then he accomplished the unprecedented. He compiled 15 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in a win over Lewisville. The performance is the first triple-double on record at Plano.
The Florida transfer had Plano a win or a Flower Mound Marcus loss from clinching its fifth-straight playoff berth and fifth-straight 20-win season entering Tuesday.
Plano coach Tom Inman compares Roberson to Brett Favre, pointing to the guard's ability to fearlessly make plays.
Roberson points to the ability of players like Division I recruits Joseph Fulce and Eric Zastoupil to make it happen.
