Roberson: Plano Star Courier's Male Athlete of the Week

PLANO - When the game is on the line, John Roberson puts the Plano boys basketball team on his back.

He did so Jan. 17 with a pair of free throws and a steal on the inbounds pass in the closing seconds to lead the Wildcats to a 53-49 win at Plano East. Roberson also scored 27 points Friday in a 57-53 win over The Colony.

During the week, the point guard averaged 23.5 points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals in two games. For his performances, Roberson was named the Plano Star Courier's Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 16-22.

In the win at Plano East, Roberson had eight of his game-high 20 points in the fourth period. He also recorded five assists and five steals in the contest.

Roberson leads Plano in points (17.4), assists (7) and steals (2.4) per game. He leads District 8-5A in assists per game and is No. 2 in points per contest.

Roberson is also the No. 4 junior recruit according to TexasRoundball.com.
