PLANO - The Plano boys basketball team made plays when it had to Tuesday as it held off Plano East, 53-49, at Archie E. McAfee Gymnasium.
"With our circumstances, we could've easily folded," Plano coach Tom Inman said. "We had foul trouble and they (Plano East) shot really well. But we were able to get out of here with a win."
Plano (15-7, 5-1 in District 8-5A) is now in first place outright as The Colony upset Flower Mound, 38-36, Tuesday.
The Wildcats host the upset-minded Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Plano Activity Center gymnasium.
Plano East (14-6, 3-3) has lost three of its last four contests and will try to get back on the winning track when it visits Flower Mound at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
"We came back from a shaky start and we played well, but Plano made the plays down the stretch," Plano East coach Doug Bleadorn said.
Plano was led by John Roberson, who recorded 18 points and five steals, both game-highs. Plano East was led by John West, who had 17 points and 11 rebounds.
