Eric Zastoupil & John Roberson combine for 47 points in win!

PLANO - Eric Zastoupil poured in a career-high 32 points and combined with John Roberson for 47 points in a 65-61 victory Friday over Lewisville at the Plano Activity Center gymnasium.

Plano (12-7, 2-1) used the victory to recover from a loss in its district opener. Plano, a preseason favorite in the alignment is now locked in a four-way tie for second place which includes Plano East and Plano West, the other two playoff teams in the alignment last season.

The Wildcats relied on a solid middle potion of the game for a win. A 22-18 advantage in the second period gave Plano a one-point lead at halftime. Plano poured six points onto the margin in the third period and held off Lewisville.

Flower Mound Marcus 47, Plano East 41
Kevin Moore did it to Plano East again.

The Flower Mound Marcus quarterback converted both ends of a two-shot foul in overtime, expanding the Marauders' advantage into a two-possession lead as Plano East fell, 47-41, Friday at Archie E. McAfee Gymnasium.

Plano East (13-4, 2-1) had its 10-game district win streak and 12-game home district win streak snapped. Marcus (13-6, 2-1), led by the senior which defeated the Plano East football team, used the win to pull into a four-way tie for second place in District 8-5A.

"It came down to the fourth period," Plano East coach Doug Bleadorn said. "You've got to make free throws and make stops when you've got to make stops. We needed one more defensive stop in the fourth period."

Plano East was 0-for-4 from the floor and committed two turnovers in overtime as Marcus went on a 6-0 run. The Marauders finished the game on a 13-2 run across the final 8:18.

Anthony Hill, who had been held scoreless throughout three periods, snapped off a three-pointer to give Plano East a 37-34 advantage and John West gave the Panthers a five-point cushion on the next possession. Plano East was held to just two more points during the remainder of regulation and overtime.

Flower Mound 46, Plano West 44
A 15-7 third period run gave Flower Mound a 34-32 lead heading into the final period Friday and the Jaguars matched Plano West points for point in the fourth to hang on for a 46-44 win at Flower Mound in a contest between teams tied for first place.

With Plano East's loss to Marcus, Flower Mound (15-7, 3-0) now has sole possession of first place. Plano West (13-7, 2-1) is now involved in a four-way tie for second with Marcus, Plano and Plano East.

The Wolves host Plano East at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wolves' Den.

Plano West actually led 18-10 at the end of the first period before Flower Mound slowed things down and outscored the Wolves, 9-7, in the second period to pull within six, 25-19, at halftime.

The Jaguars then seized the lead with their 15-7 third period run.

Shawn Schepel led all scorers with 20 points. Plano West was led by Jerrald Bonham, Jaren Jeffcoat and Craig Stanley, who each had 10 points.
