PLANO - The No. 18 Plano boys basketball team will be the only Plano ISD boys basketball team competing in a tournament this weekend.

The Wildcats will participate in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Lifetime Fitness Tournament today-Saturday and open tournament play against TC-Addison at 5 p.m. today at R.L. Turner High School.

Plano (3-2) was the runner-up of the 2004-05 tournament and lost to Irving in the championship game. The championship game loss was also the first of the season for the Wildcats.

Irving is on the other side of the tournament bracket, which could mean a championship game rematch if both teams advance to Saturday's championship game.

Plano will face either R.L. Turner or Grapevine in the following round Friday at Turner.

The Wildcats have proven they can play any type of game this season. Such was the case in an 86-77 win at Fort Worth Dunbar Monday.

Dunbar, who averaged 86.5 points per game entering the contest, was held to 77. The 86 points scored by Plano was a season-high. The Wildcats also scored 29 points in the third period.

John Roberson has averaged 29 points in the last two games. He scored 28 against Berkner Saturday and 30 against Dunbar.

Joseph Fulce and Eric Zastoupil have also established as go-to guys in Plano's scoring attack. Other teams competing in the tournament include Allen and Prestonwood Christian Academy.
